Exploiting a culture of autonomy

Teaching while avoiding standardising students is deeply rooted in the university’s culture: we welcome autonomous, responsible students who learn to build their own career path by drawing their knowledge from teacher-researchers gifted with great expertise. These same teacher-researchers implement an educational approach that leads everyone not only to acquire skills, but also to gain the critical perspective necessary to tackle new situations and be able to resolve them. In short, our students are particularly well equipped to succeed in organisations and to evolve in a changing world.

Thanks to the breadth and dynamism of our research professors and temporary and full-time lecturers, our students have the opportunity to multiply their professional experiences and boost their academic knowledge to the most advanced level in the fields of economics and management in which we specialise.

IAE Nantes Economie & Management has thereby set itself the goal of being a major player, the first choice in training and research in economics and management in the Nantes metropolitan area.

Like many students in my field, I was hired following my internship at PwC, one of the ‘Big Four’ accountancy firms. The IAE prepares us very well professionally. Compared to business school graduates, IAE graduates have an equivalent level of general culture but a more solid knowledge on taxation and accounting because we begin to specialise from the third year.
In addition, from the first year we learn to be autonomous: we are not constantly monitored, so it is up to us to know how to manage our freedom and our time. At university, I acquired an organisational capacity which is really useful to me today as an executive, free to organise my activities provided that I meet all my deadlines.
